Pastor Al Jandl

Founding Pastor - Living Stones Church, Alvin, Texas
1939-2021
Alcoholism, family violence and rejection were realities in Al Jandl’s childhood. Before he was born again, he experienced more destruction and heartache than most experience in a lifetime. Hopelessness manifested in dangerous thrill-seeking, drinking and fighting. By 1972, he had married four times and had several children.

While working as a grocery store manager, he was shot in the head during an attempted robbery. He had an out-of-body experience and, in the moments that followed, asked God to give him another chance at life.

A few years later, as his fourth marriage was disintegrating before his eyes, he sat on the side of his bed with a gun in his hand, determined to end his life. He asked God to keep him from hell and began to pray.

That’s when it happened—he experienced God’s presence in a powerful way. He ran to the kitchen and threw away his alcohol and cigarettes and ran into his driveway yelling, “This is the happiest day of my life!” His circumstances had not changed, but Al Jandl had.

The rest of the story is about the power of God to transform us into victorious people. God called him to preach just two years later in 1974. He founded Living Stones Church in Alvin, Texas in 1975.
